Jakarta. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) seized operations of Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), a mining company owned by businessman Harvey Moeis, on Monday.

The seizure is related to an alleged corruption case involving tin commodity trading under the mining business permit (IUP) of state-owned tin miner Timah.

"The investigative team seized RBT in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands," said Ketut Sumedana, Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, in a statement on Monday.

Harvey was arrested on March 27 over allegations of acting as a middleman to help RBT illegally manage mining areas belonging to Timah. Prosecutors allege that the illegal mining activities spanned from 2015 to 2022, although Harvey’s involvement began in 2018.

Ketut mentioned that they confiscated several pieces of heavy equipment from RBT, including tin refining equipment.

The AGO has named at least 16 suspects after interrogating nearly 150 witnesses in the graft scandal that has potentially caused a loss of Rp 271 trillion ($17 billion) in environmental damages as a result of the illegal mining.

Most of the suspects are executives from private mining companies, including RBT. A former CEO of Timah, identified by the initials MRPT, and three other executives from the state company are also among the suspects.

Harvey stands out on the suspect list because of his marriage to actress Sandra Dewi and the couple’s lavish lifestyle.

Previously, the AGO confiscated a Rolls Royce, and a Mini Cooper, as well as electronic devices and documents from Harvey's residence in South Jakarta. The seized Rolls-Royce was a gift for his wife, actress Sandra Dewi.

The AGO's investigators are currently tracing the flow of funds as part of asset tracing related to the case, which also includes a private jet. There are plans to charge Harvey Moeis and other suspects under the Money Laundering Act (TPPU), alongside corruption allegations.
