Gruesome Discovery in Blitar, Two Decomposed Bodies Found at Dog Shelter
Blitar. Two female corpses in an advanced state of decomposition were found at a dog shelter on Sulawesi Street, Karangtengah Village, Blitar City, in East Java on Monday evening. The victims were found in a blood-stained condition.
Siswanto, the head of the neighborhood's RW (Community Unit), admitted receiving reports from residents who detected a foul odor emanating from the shelter. He then investigated and discovered the presence of corpses.
"I went to the location because residents were disturbed by the stench of decay. After the investigation, it turned out there were corpses inside," said Siswanto on Monday night.
He subsequently reported the finding to the police. Shortly after, police officers arrived at the scene.
However, they faced difficulty entering the shelter as it was locked. Eventually, the officers broke the lock, and the door was successfully opened.
Upon arrival, two corpses were discovered, one in the front room and the other in a room, both in a blood-stained condition.
During the evacuation process, the police involved residents to assist in handling the dogs. The shelter had dozens of dogs, some placed in rooms, while others roamed freely.
Officers were forced to use long sticks to fend off the dogs. After some time, both corpses were successfully evacuated and taken to the hospital.
One of the corpses is identified as Erlin (47 years old), the shelter's owner. However, the identity of her assistant remains unknown.
Blitar Kota Police's Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, AKP Hendro Utaryo, said they are still investigating the case. He suspects that the victims had been there for more than three days, leading to advanced decomposition.
"When found, the condition was already decomposed, possibly more than three days. We are still delving into this, and now the bodies are at the hospital," he said on Tuesday.
The cause of the victim's death is yet to be determined. The bodies will undergo an autopsy by a team from Bhayangkara Hospital in Kediri to uncover the cause of death.
"If it's suspected to be unnatural, we cannot confirm it yet. We are still investigating further," he added.
