GP Ansor to Gather Its Diaspora Across 20 Countries
Jakarta. GP Ansor, the youth arm of the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama, is planning to gather all of its diasporas spread across 20 countries.
Addin Jauharudin, the chair of GP Ansor’s executive board, is hoping that this gathering will motivate the diasporas to innovate for Indonesia.
“Our diaspora will form a forum that lets Nahdlatul Ulama’s youths share their thoughts on how they make innovations across many fields, be it technology, construction, biotech, and the environment,” Addin said in the group’s gathering in Malaysia.
“This networking will pave the way for a cluster of academics and professionals to team up to think about how they can contribute to Indonesia. … Once they return to Indonesia, they can connect with the government and the industry to make some breakthroughs,” Addin said.
According to him, the best practices from the different countries should be able to be replicated in Indonesia. For instance, Europe’s public service management, Malaysia’s construction, Bangkok’s agriculture, and Chinese technologies. Under Yaqut Cholil Qaumas’s leadership, GP Ansor has established six overseas branches in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, South Korea, Egypt, Taiwan, and Japan. The group is planning to expand this to 20 countries by establishing Ansor ambassadors.
“We are preparing global ambassadors to build a strategic partnership with partners in Japan, China, Korea, the Middle East, the US, and Europe,” Addin said.
