Governor Pramono Anung Renames Transjakarta Senen Bus Shelter
Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially renamed the Senen Sentral Bus Stop to “Jaga Jakarta” Bus Stop on Monday. The renaming took place after the stop was renovated following damage caused by demonstrations in late August.
Pramono explained that the decision to change the name of the Transjakarta bus stop in Pasar Senen came after it was set on fire during protests related to an online motorcycle taxi incident. The new name serves as a reminder to prevent the destruction of public facilities from happening again.
“Why did we change the name? Because we want to protect Jakarta together. To make sure this incident does not happen again, the Senen Sentral Bus Stop has been renamed Jaga Jakarta [protect Jakarta],” Pramono said on Monday.
In addition to the name change, the stop now features a memorabilia installation showcasing documentation of the damage when the old stop was vandalized. This installation is an important symbol, reminding the public to help safeguard public facilities.
Pramono emphasized that protecting Jakarta is not only the government’s duty but also the responsibility of all citizens.
“It is impossible for the government alone to protect Jakarta without community participation. That’s why we must take care of it together,” he stressed.
The renovation of the Jaga Jakarta Bus Stop took only one week, allowing the stop to resume full operations quickly.
“I am grateful that in less than seven days, this bus stop has returned to normal. Starting today, Transjakarta fares have also returned to normal,” he explained.
Aside from the bus stop repairs, the pedestrian bridge at the Senen intersection, which was also damaged during the demonstrations, will be repaired by the Public Works Ministry in December.
With the inauguration of the Jaga Jakarta Bus Stop, the provincial government hopes the public will be more aware of the importance of protecting public facilities as shared assets of the capital’s residents.
