Jakarta. Ahmad Doli Kurnia, Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, revealed that the party is evaluating potential candidates for the vice gubernatorial role to partner with the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party's Dedi Mulyadi in the 2024 West Java gubernatorial race.

One of the contenders under consideration is Atalia Praratya, the wife of Ridwan Kamil, who is Golkar's candidate for the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

“We are in the process of evaluating potential candidates. There is an agreement that the vice gubernatorial candidate for Dedi Mulyadi in West Java will come from Golkar,” Doli said in Jakarta on Wednesday evening.

In addition to Atalia Praratya, Golkar has several other potential candidates for the position, including Ace Hasan Syadzily, the Chairman of Golkar's West Java branch.

“We have several qualified candidates, such as Mrs. Atalia, Ade Ginanjar, Deputy Speaker of the West Java Regional House of Representatives, former Bandung Regent Dadang Naser, and MQ Iswara, Secretary of Golkar's West Java branch. We are fortunate to have many capable candidates within Golkar,” he added.

Doli noted that once Golkar finalizes a candidate, discussions will be held with Dedi Mulyadi, and a joint decision will be made with the Advance Indonesia Coalition (KIM) or any additional supporters.

“We will discuss the final candidate with Dedi Mulyadi, and the decision will be made collectively with the political parties in KIM or those supporting the pair,” Doli concluded.

Previously, Gerindra's senior party official Sufmi Dasco Ahmad confirmed that the Democratic Party and the National Mandate Party (PAN) have no objections to Golkar providing the vice gubernatorial candidate for Dedi Mulyadi. He confirmed that all KIM parties have agreed on this arrangement.
