Jakarta. Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo said Wednesday his campaign team is preparing a lawsuit challenging the election result after he lost to Prabowo Subianto according to the national tally.

The results of the Feb. 14 presidential and legislative elections were certified earlier in the day by the General Election Commission (KPU).

Ganjar ranked last in the three-way election with just 16.47 percent of the vote while Prabowo secured an outright win of 58.59 percent.

"Our legal team is prepared to file the lawsuit," Ganjar told reporters in Jakarta. “We will follow the schedule at the Constitutional Court.”

He didn’t go into details about evidence of election fraud that prompted the lawsuit.

The former Central Java governor declined to comment further on the election result certification by the KPU, saying his formal stance will be delivered later on Thursday.

Ganjar and running mate Mohammad Mahfud MD were nominated by the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
