Jakarta. Ida Bagus Ardana, the former Regent of Jembrana, and his wife, A Sri Wulan Trisna, were found dead at their residence on Jalan Gurita IV No. 6 in Denpasar, Bali, on Thursday. The bodies were discovered in a state of advanced decomposition.

Ida Ardana served as Regent of Jembrana for two terms during the New Order era under President Soeharto, from 1980-1985 and 1985-1990. The exact cause of death for both Ida Bagus and his wife remains unclear. The Bali Regional Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the couple's deaths.

"The exact cause of death is still under further investigation," said Bali Police spokesperson Jansen Avitus Panjaitan on Friday.

According to the police, the bodies were discovered late at night around 10:16 p.m. local time. A foul odor led to the discovery. “The two bodies had already started to decompose and were emitting a strong smell. The exact cause of death is still under further investigation,” Jansen stated.
