Jakarta. The three Jakarta governor candidate pairs will face one another at their first debate on Oct. 6, although the General Election Commission (KPU) has not decided on the topics they will discuss.

KPU Jakarta’s representative Astri Megatari said the election body will hold the debate three times. However, KPU has not disclosed much detail on the long-awaited debate as preparations are still underway.

“As for the venue, we are still discussing it with the host,” Astri said in Jakarta on Monday evening.

“We also have to discuss the debate topics with the team in charge of formulating the themes,” Astri said.

All three pairs are expected to show up on stage in these debates. They include Ridwan Kamil and Suswono, whose were drawn number 1 on the ballots; Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana (ballot number 2); and Pramono Anung and Rano Karno (ballot number 3). These governor hopefuls have recently picked the ballot numbers.

According to Astri, each debate has six segments and will run for 150 minutes.

“It is a 120-minute debate and we will allocate 30 minutes for commercial breaks. And there are 6 segments. So it is pretty similar to the debates during the presidential election,” Astri said.

Jakartans will pick their next governor on Nov. 27
