Father Set for Trial for the Murder of His Four Children
Jakarta. Panca Darmansyah, 41, is set for trial for the murder of his four children in December 2023. According to the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the South Jakarta District Court, the first hearing of this case is scheduled for Wednesday.
The trial will be presided over by Chief Judge Sulistyo Muhammad Dwi Putro, with Andi Jaya Aryandi serving as the Public Prosecutor.
The case came to light after a neighbor noticed a foul odor coming from Panca's rented house on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Upon investigation, the odor was found to originate from the bodies of Panca's four children: V (6-year-old, female), S (4-year-old, female), AS (3-year-old, male), and AK (1-year-old, male). The murders were committed four days earlier, on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
The four children were found lined up on a bed. Panca then killed them by suffocating them with his hands.
After the murders, Panca arranged the bodies of his children on a mattress in ascending order of their ages, placing a family photograph atop the eldest child. In a disturbing twist, he recorded his actions using a laptop and a phone.
The motive behind this heinous act is believed to be Panca's suspicion that his wife was having an affair. Upon learning this, he committed domestic violence against his wife the day before ending the lives of his four children.
When the children were silently murdered, their mother was undergoing treatment at a hospital for severe injuries after she was attacked by Panca a day earlier.
Ultimately, Panca regretted his actions and attempted suicide, but his attempt failed. Using his blood, he wrote the message "Puas bunda, tx for all (Are you satisfied, thanks for all)" on the floor.
Panca has been charged with premeditated murder and child abuse, which carry the maximum penalty of death. Police also slapped him with the domestic violence charges.
