Tangerang. A man has been charged with child exploitation and document forgery after his 16-year-old domestic assistant jumped from the third floor of his home in Tangerang, Banten province, suffering serious injuries.

Tangerang Metropolitan Police Chief Zain Dwi Nugroho said on Saturday that the suspect, identified as J bin A, 26, had falsified the personal data of his underage assistant to obtain an ID card.

The employer manipulated her age to 21 years old and falsely listed her birthplace as Brebes, Central Java.

The victim, identified by the initials CC, is currently 16 years old and was born in Karawang, West Java, according to authentic documents such as her junior high school diploma, Zain said.

"The suspect is being detained at the Tangerang Metropolitan Police headquarters," Zain stated.

"The victim is still undergoing treatment at Tangerang Municipal Hospital, with the city government covering all medical costs," he added.

The suspect is also charged with domestic violence and illegal employment.

Tangerang Mayor Nurdin said the victim will receive counseling from a psychologist to help heal from the traumatic incident after surgery.

The domestic assistant jumped from the third floor of her employer’s house in Karawaci subdistrict on the morning of May 29.

Police suspect she had been physically abused by her employer, leading to the incident.
