Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto continues to dominate the official vote count conducted by the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2024 presidential election, setting the stage for a single-round outcome. As of Saturday at 02:00 PM WIB, more than 65 percent of the results from over 820,000 polling stations have been tallied.

Prabowo, along with his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's eldest son, is leading over their two opponents. Prabowo currently holds a substantial lead with approximately 47.61 million votes or around 57.52 percent.

Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan and his running mate Muhaimin Iskandar have secured 24.6 percent of the votes, equivalent to 20.36 million votes, while Ganjar Pranowo and his VP candidate, Mohammad Mahfud MD, attained 17.89 percent or approximately 14.79 million votes.

Vice Chairman of the Expert Council of Prabowo's National Campaign Team (TKN), Budiman Sudjatmiko, said the result surpasses their initially set target.

"Various survey institutions (quick count) indicate figures of 58-59 percent, while our estimate was initially 55 percent," Budiman said.

According to Budiman, the significant support for Prabowo-Gibran comes from the youth, which is deemed impactful considering that 65 percent of the voters in the 2024 elections consist of Gen Zs and millennials.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is leading in the ongoing real count of votes for the 2024 Legislative Election.

Data from more than 400,000 polling stations, constituting approximately 49.2 percent of all polling stations nationwide, have been processed by the KPU. Preliminary results indicate that the ruling party is at the forefront with 8.33 million votes, making up around 16.42 percent. PDI-P is supporting Ganjar in the election. Closely trailing are the Golkar Party with 7.4 million votes (14.59 percent) and Gerindra with 6.43 million votes (12.67 percent), both supporting Prabowo.

Hasto Kristiyanto, the secretary-general of PDI-P, said the party may "stay out of the government" if Prabowo is confirmed as the elected president.

"When we are outside of the government, we will continue to support pro-people policies, but we will stand against harmful policies like rice imports that hurt our farmers," he said.

According to him, the PDI-P has not decided on its political stance toward the potential Prabowo presidency until the official vote tally is concluded.

Other noteworthy parties in the current tally include the National Awakening Party (PKB) with 5.53 million votes (10.9 percent), The National Democrat Party (Nasdem) with 4.59 million votes (9 percent), and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) with 3.82 million votes (7.53 percent). These parties supported Anies in the election.
