Jakarta. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights will deport a British national who stole a truck and caused chaos en route to Ngurah Rai Airport.

"After he serves his sentence, deportation follows," said Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry, in Denpasar on Wednesday.

Damon Anthony Alexander Hills, the British national, remains under scrutiny at the North Kuta Police Station, Badung Regency, Bali.

According to Pramella, the actions of the 50-year-old British national have drawn serious attention, emphasizing the need for security, particularly for law-breaking foreigners. She urges community involvement in maintaining security and reporting any suspicious activities.

"The community's role is vital in safeguarding environmental security. Report any suspicious activities promptly to the authorities," she emphasized.

Hills previously stole a truck, crashing into a toll gate and motorists in Kerobokan, Bali. The incident, captured on video, went viral on social media.

The incident began when the British national attacked a truck driver who was sleeping, hitting and kicking him until the victim fell out of the truck. After taking control of the truck, Hills drove through the Kerobokan area, then continued towards Ngurah Rai Bypass Road heading to the Benoa Toll Gate.

At high speed, the British national crashed into the toll gate, prompting a pursuit by Bali Mandara Toll Service officers to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. At the airport entrance, Hills once again crashed into the gate and several other facilities before running towards the international departure terminal. He was eventually apprehended by airport security personnel along with the police.

Immigration data shows that from January to June 7, 135 foreign nationals from 41 countries have been deported from Bali. The top three countries are Australia (18), Russia (17), and the United States (14), with violations including overstaying, prior convictions, and non-compliance with laws and regulations. In 2023, 340 foreign nationals were deported, up from 188 in 2022.
