Bogor Police Arrest Four in Online Sale of Marijuana-Infused Chocolates
Bogor. The alarming rise in drug trafficking continues as marijuana-infused chocolates target teenagers and children in Bogor, West Java. The Narcotics Unit of Bogor City Police apprehended four individuals involved in the production and sale of these narcotics-laced chocolates on Thursday.
The drug manufacturers operated from a rented house in the Bojonggede area of Bogor, West Java. Authorities swiftly raided the rental property to apprehend the suspects.
During the operation, law enforcement also discovered the perpetrators in the process of creating packages of drug-laced chocolates. These illicit packages were concocted by mixing marijuana leaves with chocolate and subsequently sold online.
Bogor City Police Chief, Bismo Teguh Prakoso, said the four apprehended suspects, identified as 19-years-old NCR, 19-years-old MIN, 18-years-old DPP, and 21-years-old FS, played different roles in the process, ranging from concoction to the online sale of the drug-infused chocolates.
"They have been operating for more than 2 months, frequently relocating their rented spaces," he said.
In an attempt to deceive the police, the criminals packaged the marijuana in chocolate balls. One piece of these drug-laced chocolates was sold online for approximately Rp 100,000 ($6.36).
"We urge parents to be vigilant concerning their families and children. It turns out that these chocolates can be mixed with marijuana," said Bismo.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Narcotics Unit at Bogor City Police, Commissioner Eka Chandra, said this method of selling drugs by mixing them with chocolate is a new modus operandi.
In addition to apprehending the suspects, the police seized 1.8 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, raw chocolate materials, and synthetic tobacco.
