Bank Jago Employee Accused of Stealing Funds from Frozen Accounts
Jakarta. A former employee of Bank Jago has been arrested for allegedly stealing Rp 1.4 billion from accounts frozen by the bank on the order of law enforcement authorities, the Jakarta Police announced on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified by the initials IA, 33, was a contact center specialist at Bank Jago.
"Between March 18 and October 31, 2023, he allegedly breached Bank Jago’s security system," said Ade Safri Simanjuntak, director of the special crime unit with the Jakarta Police.
IA made unauthorized access to 112 accounts that Bank Jago had frozen due to suspicious criminal activities based on advice from authorities.
He then transferred the funds to a separate account, amassing Rp 1.4 billion. The suspect is charged under the Electronic Information and Transaction Law and the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
