Jakarta. Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose 18 points, or 0.3%, to 5,893 at Monday's opening, supported by easing expectations of another Federal Reserve rate hike and investor focus on Indonesia's upcoming economic indicators.

The benchmark index moved within a range of 5,864 to 5,929 in early trading. Trading volume reached 1.9 billion shares with turnover of Rp 934 billion ($52 million) across more than 147,000 transactions. Gainers outnumbered losers 346 to 136, while 199 stocks were unchanged.

Phintraco Sekuritas said the market was supported by growing expectations that the Federal Reserve could postpone another interest rate hike after US June nonfarm payrolls data, released on Thursday, came in below market expectations.

"Continued declines in crude oil prices have also eased concerns over accelerating inflation driven by higher energy prices," Phintraco Sekuritas wrote in a research note on Monday.

Gold prices climbed 2.3% to $4,182 per troy ounce last week, marking their first weekly gain since May 2026, as expectations for a Fed rate hike in September continued to fade.

This week, investors will closely monitor the release of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting minutes for further clues on the Fed's divided views over monetary policy. The market will also watch US ISM Services PMI, existing home sales, and trade balance data.

In Europe, the European Central Bank is scheduled to publish its monetary policy accounts. "Investors will also keep an eye on economic data from Japan and China, as well as the upcoming OPEC meeting," Phintraco Sekuritas said.

Domestically, market participants are awaiting Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves data on Tuesday, the consumer confidence index on Wednesday, retail sales and motorcycle sales on Thursday, and automobile sales figures on Friday.

"Lower oil prices and the rebound in gold prices are expected to remain positive catalysts for the market this week," Phintraco Sekuritas said.

The brokerage also highlighted the Indonesia Stock Exchange's proposal to remove three criteria from its special monitoring board, namely those related to minimum free float, low liquidity, and prolonged trading suspension. The exchange is also considering a tiered expansion of auto-rejection limits: Rp 1 for stocks priced between Rp 1 and Rp 100, 35% for stocks between Rp 101 and Rp 200, 25% for stocks between Rp 200 and Rp 5,000, and 20% for stocks above Rp 5,000.

"The evaluation aims to support a more transparent and efficient trading mechanism. The JCI is expected to test the psychological 6,000 level this week," Phintraco Sekuritas said.

Wall Street was closed on Friday in observance of the US Independence Day holiday.

Across Asia, regional markets traded mixed as of 9:13 a.m. Jakarta time. Japan's Nikkei fell 0.72%, South Korea's Kospi dropped 1.37%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.52% and China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.24%.
