Jakarta. The Bali Regional Police has projected a 9 percent increase in tourist arrivals during the 2024 Eid period, totaling around 1.09 million people compared to the 998,521 visitors recorded during the same festive period in 2023.

Soelistijono, Chief of Operations of the Bali Regional Police said the peak of Eid homecoming traffic at Ngurah Rai Airport is expected on April 7, with an estimated 68,765 people arriving, consisting of 33,300 domestic and 35,465 international travelers.

Conversely, the peak of return traffic is forecasted on April 14, with around 69,311 people departing (33,836 domestic and 35,465 international tourists).

To manage the anticipated congestion during the Eid holiday, the Bali Regional Police have mobilized thousands of personnel.

During the Eid period in 2022, as many as 174,272 domestic tourists arrived at Ngurah Rai Airport, while 156,573 departed. In the 2023 period, 249,540 domestic passengers arrived while 232,389 departed.

Handy Heryudhitiawan, the General Manager of Ngurah Rai International Airport, is fully prepared to provide the best service during the Eid al-Fitr period.

"Based on previous years' experiences, Bali has always been crowded with domestic tourists during the long Eid al-Fitr holiday. Therefore, from April 3 to 18, we, along with all stakeholders at the airport, will establish an integrated Eid al-Fitr 1445 H air transportation post," he explained.

The Transportation Ministry forecasts that 193.6 million individuals, approximately 71.7 percent of the nation's populace, will partake in the Eid exodus this year, marking a significant 50 percent rise from last year's exodus.
