Anas Urbaningrum Says Yudhoyono Framed Him Also, Demands Apology

Jakarta. Former Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum has demanded an apology from former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whom he accused of having falsely implicated him in corruption, for which he is currently serving time in prison.

Anas sent a message through his friend, I Gde Pasek Suardika, saying that similar to the case involving former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Antasari Azhar, he was also framed by Yudhoyono.

"Coincidentally, Antasari said he was incriminated. Anas said it was not only Antasari, but he that he was also a victim of incrimination," Pasek told the press at the legislative complex in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/02).

"Anas has hoped that SBY would apologize for that. Just a simple apology," Pasek said, referring to the former president by his initials.

"It is karma, he [Anas] said. Karma is real, it is only a matter of time," he added.

Pasek said Anas revealed that he was forced to "die young" due to internal differences in the Democratic Party.

"This was mentioned by Anas, to be announced to the public," he added.

He said Anas also asked the authorities to investigate the incrimination process against him, which started before he was named a suspect until he was sentenced to 19 years in prison and stripped of his political rights.

Pasek said Yudhoyono's bluff should not implicate more victims.

"Surely, he should allow the case to be tested in public. The documents are available and there should be evidence whether the [previous] ruling party was involved or not," Pasek said.

"This will avoid [someone] from blaming the current government, and saying that it is lacking this, or that," he said.
