Jakarta. In 41 regencies and cities across Indonesia and, local elections will feature only one candidate for each office in the upcoming November 27 vote. Despite an extended deadline, no challengers emerged for these single pairs of candidates and their running mates.

General Election Commission Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin confirmed that the deadline for registration was extended by a week to encourage more candidates to contest the simultaneous local elections. However, the additional time did not result in any significant changes.

"The registration officially closed just before midnight on Wednesday, September 4," Afifuddin stated.

According to Indonesian election law, when a candidate runs unopposed, voters will be presented with blank ballots as an alternative option.
