Tangerang. The Tangerang Immigration Office has detained 10 foreigners and charged them with immigration offenses following a recent operation in the Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK 2) area of Tangerang, Banten province.

The suspects include two individuals from Ghana and eight from Nigeria, who officials allege caused a disturbance in the upscale seaside business and residential area.

Tangerang Immigration Office Head Uray Avian said on Friday that the foreigners were arrested by a joint team comprising police, military, and narcotics unit officers.

"[The operation] was based on a tipoff from community members about unruly behavior by several foreigners in the Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 area of Tangerang regency," Uray said.

The foreigners were temporarily detained at a safe house in the Tokyo Riverside Apartment Complex for further investigation.

It was later found that seven of the detainees had overstayed their visas by more than 60 days, while three others failed to present any travel documents.

They are currently being held at the Immigration Office's detention facility and could face immediate deportation, Uray said. The Identities of the detainees weren't disclosed.
