“You Are Not the Father”: DNA Test Clears Ridwan Kamil in Defamation Row
Jakarta. The National Police said Wednesday that DNA testing has ruled out any biological link between former West Java governor Ridwan Kamil and a 3.5-year-old girl at the center of a defamation case.
The test, conducted by the police forensic laboratory, compared blood and saliva samples from Ridwan, the child, and her mother, ex-model Lisa Mariana. The results showed “no genetic match” between Ridwan and the child, according to Police Commissioner Rizki Agung Prakoso, who oversees cybercrime investigations.
Ridwan filed a criminal defamation complaint against Lisa in April after she accused him on social media of fathering her child following an alleged affair in 2021. The case is being handled under Indonesia’s Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law, which carries penalties for distributing defamatory or false online content.
“Based on the DNA results, investigators will take further legal steps to provide certainty in this matter,” Rizki said.
Both sides had agreed to the testing earlier this month, with legal representatives present during the sample collection. Ridwan’s attorney, Muslim Jaya Butarbutar, said his client was prepared to accept the outcome “with full responsibility,” while Lisa’s legal team had pledged to respect the process.
The dispute erupted in March, when Lisa posted what she claimed were screenshots of private conversations with Ridwan. The posts quickly went viral, sparking a political storm around the 53-year-old politician, who previously served as mayor of Bandung and governor of Indonesia’s most populous province. Ridwan remains a prominent figure in national politics despite losing his 2024 bid for Jakarta governor.
