Jakarta. Dr. Irene might be the only Indonesian invited to the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant last week. Dubbed the "wedding of the year," the event attracted prominent figures and celebrities.

At the reception, Dr. Irene, donning a kebaya designed by Anaz Khairunnas, stood out with pride. She shared her joy on Instagram, writing, "What an amazing day 1 wedding from Anant and Radhika Ambani filled with beautiful people. I wish both of you a lifetime of happiness and joy."

The star-studded guest list included Bollywood celebrities and Hollywood A-listers such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Justin Bieber, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Samsung CEO Han-Jong Hee, Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump, former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

So, who is Dr. Irene, and why was she invited to such a prestigious event?

Born in Papua on July 13, 1985, Dr. Irene is an active political figure. She ran as a legislative candidate for the Papua electoral district under the Gerindra Party in the 2024 election and served as a spokesperson for the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka presidential campaign.

Currently a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Irene is also a prominent social media influencer. Before entering politics, she was known as a young socialite and is an alumna of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia. She is a member of the Girls Squad, a group of glamorous celebrities, including Jessica Iskandar, Nia Ramadhani, Jennifer Bachdim, and Chacha Frederica.

Beyond her luxurious lifestyle, Dr. Irene is deeply passionate about her homeland. She served as a commissioner at Faunaland, a conservation zoo in Ancol, North Jakarta, aiming to educate the younger generation about nature and the environment.

Dr. Irene has brought a touch of Papua to Faunaland with elements like wooden bridges carved by the Asmat tribe, a cassowary-shaped entrance, and straw-roofed cages resembling Honai houses from Wamena. Her efforts promote and preserve Indonesia's rich cultural heritage, especially from her native Papua.

Proud of her roots, Dr. Irene dreams of opening a clinic in Papua, her true home, as a doctor in the future.
