TWICE Concert Organizer Detained in Jakarta Over Fraud Allegations
Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Police have detained the director of local concert organizer Melani Citra Permata (Mecimapro) over allegations of fraud and embezzlement linked to the TWICE concert held in the city in 2023.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Reonald Simanjuntak said on Thursday that the suspect, identified as FDM, has been officially named and detained following an investigation. “We have questioned nine witnesses and one expert. The suspect has been detained, meaning the case has reached the suspect stage,” Reonald said.
He added that the case file has been submitted to prosecutors for review. “The file is in the first stage and is now being examined by the prosecutor’s office. Hopefully, it will soon be declared complete,” he said.
The police report, filed on Jan. 10, 2025, was made by Media Inspirasi Bangsa (MIB), which accused FDM of misusing funds related to the TWICE 5th World Tour ‘Ready to Be’ concert at Jakarta International Stadium on Dec. 23, 2023.
According to MIB’s lawyer Aldi Rizki, Mecimapro was supposed to handle part of the concert’s financing and organization. However, MIB claims the funds it provided were misused. “We tried to resolve the issue amicably, but received no positive response. We later sent a formal demand for refund and contract cancellation, but there was no reply,” Aldi said.
MIB claims to have suffered financial losses amounting to tens of billions of rupiah.
Mecimapro is a well-known concert promoter in Indonesia and has previously organized major K-pop events, including shows by BTS, NCT, and Seventeen. The TWICE concert attracted tens of thousands of fans, making it one of the biggest K-pop events in Jakarta in 2023.
