Jakarta. Actor Liam Neeson, who seems to be inseparable from action thrillers, has gracefully stepped out of his comfort zone in the detective comedy "The Naked Gun".

The 73-year-old—famous for his "Taken" phone speech—now plays as detective Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. Neeson's "The Naked Gun", directed by Akiva Schaffer, is part of the crime-spoof comedy franchise of the same name. 

The 2025 movie follows the son of Lt. Frank Drebin. He now has to fill in his father’s shoes to lead the police squad and also save the world. The 85-minute-long movie comes fully loaded with jokes that will make you fall off your seat. But again, humor is in the eye of the beholder. What makes one laugh may feel flat for some people. However, you can almost never hear crickets at the theater, thanks to the script, which Schaffer co-wrote with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. 

“The Naked Gun” also shows that Neeson is not just some action guy. He knows how to deliver rapid-fire gags and comedy in his own way. He pairs up with Pamela Anderson, known for being CJ Parker in "Baywatch", who now plays as the sharp-tongued femme fatale Beth Davenport. Beth is the sister of a murder victim, who eventually becomes Drebin’s love interest. Neeson’s chemistry with Anderson’s Beth is top-notch, which is no surprise following their dating news.

“The Naked Gun” is now playing in Indonesian cinemas.
