Ronaldo 'Fenomeno', Del Piero Land in Jakarta for Clash of Legends
Tangerang, Banten. A host of global football icons, led by Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazário, arrived in Indonesia on Friday to a raucous crowd at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, as excitement builds for the “Clash of Legends 2026” exhibition match.
Dozens of fans gathered at the airport in Tangerang, hoping to catch a glimpse of their idols. Ronaldo drew the biggest crowd, with supporters rushing toward him as he emerged at the arrivals terminal.
Other notable names arriving throughout the day included Alessandro Del Piero, Fabio Cannavaro, John Arne Riise, David Silva, and Juan Pablo Montoya, all set to feature in the exhibition.
Several other former stars, including Javier Saviola, Jonathan Soriano, and Patrick Kluivert, had already arrived earlier in the week.
Fans, many wearing club and national team jerseys bearing their heroes’ names, packed the arrivals area from midday. Tight security, however, limited access, making it difficult for supporters to get autographs or photos.
“I’ve been here since yesterday, but I still haven’t managed to get an autograph,” said Indy, a Ronaldo fan.
The exhibition match, scheduled for Saturday at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, will feature a nostalgic showdown between Barcelona Legends and DRX World Legends.
The squads are expected to include a mix of international stars and former Indonesian players such as Irfan Bachdim, Arthur Irawan, Ismed Sofyan, Maman Abdurrahman, and Greg Nwokolo.
Organizers say the event is intended not only as entertainment but also as a way to inspire the growth of football in Indonesia, offering fans a rare chance to see some of the sport’s biggest names up close.
