R&B Singer Usher Takes Part in Sacred Melukat Ritual in Bali
Denpasar. R&B sensation Usher has been spotted embracing the culture in Bali. Indonesian designer Niluh Djelantik shared an Instagram post on Tuesday, showcasing the "U Remind Me" singer donned in traditional Balinese attire.
"Look who is in Bali! Rahajeng rauh ring Bali Bli @usher (welcome to Bali Bro Usher). Damn, I am a big fan of yours for a long timeeeee. Enjoy your holiday in the island of the gods," Niluh, renowned for her footwear adorned by Uma Thurman, Gisele Bundchen, Julia Roberts, and Paris Hilton, expressed in her Tuesday Instagram update.
Niluh shared an image of Usher participating in a Melukat ritual amidst the rain at a Balinese temple, alongside fellow tourists. Melukat involves a cleansing process where individuals immerse themselves in sanctified water to purify their souls from impurities and negative energies. The ritual is undertaken to seek purification from sins, negative karma, and spiritual impurities that might affect one's well-being.
"He looks like a local resident already," remarked actor Dennis Adhiswara on the famous designer's post.
After the pandemic, Bali's tourism has experienced notable growth. In 2023, Ngurah Rai International Airport registered 5.25 million visits from international tourists, indicating a substantial 143 percent surge compared to the corresponding period in the preceding year.
