Banyumas. Alivia Rahma Azzahra, a student from SMA Negeri 3 Purwokerto High School in, Banyumas, Central Java, has been accepted into 12 prestigious universities across the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, and Canada.

Alivia revealed that she applied to 15 universities and was accepted by 12 of them, including the University of California Berkeley, Monash University, Wageningen University and Research, and the University of British Columbia.

"I had planned to continue my studies in the United States. I applied to 15 universities, got accepted into 12, was rejected by one, and waitlisted by two," Alivia told Beritasatu.com, the Jakarta Globe's sister publication, on Friday.

Among the 12 universities, Alivia has decided to enroll at the University of California Berkeley, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

"I chose the University of California Berkeley because it ranks number 3 in the USA and is in the top 10 globally for my major," Alivia explained.

To prepare herself, the eldest of two siblings mentioned that she didn't follow any specific study regimen. She improved her English by reading English novels and stories on Twitter.

"Over time, I became proficient. The challenge was transitioning from informal to formal English, but I managed to meet the university's standards," she said.

Alivia advised those aspiring to study abroad to actively seek information and opportunities.

"Be diligent in searching for information and opportunities. Engage in many beneficial activities you enjoy; it will pay off. As long as your intentions are good and you put in genuine effort, it will not be in vain," she concluded.

Meanwhile, the principal of SMA Negeri 3 Purwokerto, Joko Budi Santoso, described Alivia as an outstanding student, particularly in the National Science Olympiad (OSN).

"Alivia is a friendly, humble, and communicative student. She also excels in the OSN. We, the teachers, often communicate with her and discuss ways to strengthen her academic resolve. She has also focused on studying English in Jakarta and Bali," Joko said.

After completing her studies in California, Alivia plans to return and apply her knowledge in Indonesia.
