Jakarta. The Jakarta Shopping Mall Managers Association (APPBI) reported that the 2024 Jakarta Great Sale (FJGS) generated transactions totaling Rp 12 trillion ($740.2 million), significantly boosting the capital city's economy.

"FJGS 2024 has successfully surpassed its transaction target of Rp12 trillion," said Mualim Wijoyo, Executive Chairman of FJGS 2024 and Chairman of APPBI Jakarta DPD, at the event's closing ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Mualim highlighted that this year's FJGS achieved a 4 percent increase compared to the previous year, which saw transactions amounting to Rp 11.5 trillion over the two-month period.

He attributed this success to various promotions during FJGS 2024, including discounts of up to 70 percent and midnight sales at Jakarta's shopping centers. The event also featured activities such as health check-ups, badminton tournaments, and prize drawings.

APPBI Jakarta, the organizing committee of the festival, partnered with state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia as the main transaction sponsor in the banking category.

Reflecting on the success, Mualim expressed optimism that FJGS could become a flagship program to stimulate Jakarta's economy.

Ratu Rante Allo, Head of the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises at the Jakarta Provincial Government, praised the achievement of FJGS 2024 and commended the efforts of APPBI members.

"The strength of Jakarta's economy is supported by purchasing power and various mall management activities aimed at realizing Jakarta as a global city," Ratu said.

The 2024 Jakarta Great Sale, themed "Let's Shopping, Now Jakarta Global City," was held from June 5 to July 10, with participation from 94 shopping centers. FJGS is an annual discount festival held to celebrate Jakarta's anniversary and promote the city as a global destination.
