Coldplay to Give Indonesian Fans “Ultimate Experience” for Rp 11 Million
Jakarta. Coldplay is slated to perform in Jakarta this November, and the British rock band is promising its fans an “ultimate experience”, which includes a backstage tour, for a whopping Rp 11 million or $743.53.
The concert promoters PK Entertainment and TEM Presents recently announced the seating layout, which showed the tickets would fall into 11 different categories starting at Rp 800,000.
The most expensive category is the "Ultimate Experience (CAT 1)", costing Rp 11 million. According to the poster, Ultimate Experience concert-goers are not only getting a “once-in-a-lifetime” backstage tour but also a photo opportunity and a dedicated entrance to the venue, among others. They will bring home custom merchandise and sustainable gift items.
The fantastic ticket prices sparked hilarious reactions on Twitter, including from musician Fiersa Besari.
“Rp 11 million. If you watch the concert together with someone, that would be Rp 22 million. You can treat an entire subdistrict to meatball soup with that money. But we can always find meatball soup street vendors any day. You might never get a chance to watch Coldplay again. Hmmm,” Fiersa tweeted on Thursday.
Twitter user @mahdinosaur said “Watching Coldplay’s ‘Ultimate Experience” will have you singing a duet with Chris Martin. They would then score your performance on a scale of 0 to 100 just like at [the karaoke] Inul Vista.”
The Coldplay concert is slated for Nov. 15 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. BCA pre-sale tickets will begin on May 17-18. The public on-sale is on May 19. Visit www.coldplayinjakarta.com for more details.
