Palu. Elon Musk's recent appearance in Bali wasn't just about launching Starlink satellite internet for Indonesia—it was a cultural statement. Clad in a vibrant green Batik Bomba shirt from Central Sulawesi, Musk inadvertently became a global ambassador for Indonesia's rich intellectual wealth.

Hermansyah Siregar, leading the charge for intellectual property protection in Central Sulawesi, saw Musk's choice of attire as a significant nod to the region's heritage.

"This is a moment of immense pride for Central Sulawesi Province," he said. "To see Batik Bomba, our treasured intellectual property, embraced by global icons like Elon Musk is truly remarkable."

Batik Bomba, hailing from Donggala, Central Sulawesi, is more than just a fabric—it's a symbol of resilience and cultural identity. With its vibrant colors and intricate patterns, Batik Bomba holds a deep-rooted significance in the local community. It is often worn during special events and cherished as a symbol of heritage.

But Musk's choice of Batik Bomba wasn't merely a fashion statement. Central Sulawesi's abundance of nickel, a key component in electric vehicle production, adds another layer of importance. Musk's recognition of this connection subtly highlights the province's potential contribution to the global shift toward sustainable transportation.

Efforts to safeguard and promote Batik Bomba have long been underway, aiming to both preserve cultural heritage and empower local artisans. Musk's inadvertent endorsement of Batik Bomba provides a pivotal opportunity to elevate its profile on the international stage.

According to Hermansyah, Musk's gesture could pave the way for increased recognition and economic opportunities for Donggala's artisans, potentially having a positive ripple effect for the local economy.
