Jakarta. Indonesian actress Sandra Dewi has filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), demanding the return of her personal assets seized in connection with the corruption case involving her husband, Harvey Moeis. The lawsuit was submitted to the Central Jakarta District Court, a court spokesperson confirmed on Monday.

Sandra has been questioned multiple times by prosecutors over her husband’s case. Harvey is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty of conducting illegal tin mining operations on state-owned land.

The list of assets seized by prosecutors includes 88 luxury handbags from major brands, a luxury car, several plots of land and buildings, and time deposits worth Rp 33 billion ($2 million) registered under Sandra’s name.

Sandra maintains that all of the seized items were acquired legally through her own professional work in the entertainment industry, including endorsements, personal purchases, and brand gifts.

“These items are the result of my career as an artist, not proceeds of corruption. The car that was seized was a birthday gift, not from Harvey,” Sandra said in a statement submitted to the court.

She said that she and Harvey had signed a prenuptial agreement ensuring separate ownership of assets, meaning her personal wealth acquired after their marriage remains legally hers. Through the lawsuit, she is asking the court to revoke the seizure and order the return of her personal property.

Court spokesperson Andi Saputra confirmed that the hearing on Sandra’s objection is still at the evidentiary stage, presided over by Chief Judge Rios Rahmanto.

“The respondent in this case is the Attorney General’s Office. The hearing remains in the evidence phase,” Andi said.

In her motion, Sandra identifies herself as a “third party acting in good faith,” arguing that her assets are lawfully obtained and have no connection to any criminal activity.

“The petitioner claims to be a third party acting in good faith, with assets acquired legitimately through endorsements, personal purchases, and gifts,” Andi added.

Harvey Moeis was originally sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and ordered to pay Rp 210 billion ($12.7 million) in restitution by the Central Jakarta District Court. Upon appeal, his sentence was increased to 20 years, a decision upheld recently by the Supreme Court.
