Jakarta. More than 250 retailers, fashion brands and fast food chains have joined a nationwide election day discount program, offering steep discounts for voters in a collected effort to increase voter turnout.
The program, called KlingKing Fun, is supported by the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) and the Communication and Information Technology Ministry (Kemkominfo).
"We created KlingKing Fun to spread happiness to voters taking part in our great 'democracy party' and to try to stop people from abstaining," senior businessman Sofjan Wanandi said at the KlingKing Fun launch in Jakarta on Monday (15/04).
Sofjan said the special offers are targeted at Indonesia's 192.8 million registered voters. The General Elections Commission (KPU) said participation rate in this year's elections is expected to reach 77.5 percent of total registered voters.
To get the special offers, you only need to show your ink-stained pinky finger (a sign that you have already cast your ballot) at selected retailers. Some of the brands and retailers with KlingKing Fun special offers are:
