Traffic Data Surge Propels XL Axiata to 11% Revenue Growth
Jakarta. XL Axiata, a telecommunications company, reported an 11 percent year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching Rp 32.34 trillion ($2 billion) in 2023 on the back of a 21 percent surge in traffic data, totaling 9,638 Petabytes.
"The enhanced digital infrastructure and quality, coupled with relevant technological adoption, have driven the surge in data traffic. The Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) has also increased to Rp 43,000," said Dian Siswarini, CEO of XL Axiata, in Jakarta on Monday.
The company also saw a 12 percent rise in EBITDA, reaching Rp 15.89 trillion, with an EBITDA margin reaching 49.1 percent. Net profit experienced a 15 percent surge, totaling Rp 1.28 trillion during the same period.
Dian highlighted a 6 percent reduction in sales and marketing expenses achieved by optimizing the MyXL and AXISnet applications. She said controlling operational expenses growth below revenue growth has been instrumental in maintaining profitability.
By the end of 2023, XL Axiata added 14,101 base transceiver stations (BTS), bringing the total to 160,124 BTS, with 61 percent already fiberized. The company, with 57.5 million customers by the end of 2023, achieved significant milestones, including 235,000 subscribers for XL Home services and a convergence penetration rate of 75 percent.
XL Axiata continues to advance its convergence services, integrating mobile and fixed broadband internet, or known as fixed mobile convergence (FMC). In 2024, the company aims to expand its network to over 1.7 million homepasses.
XL Satu Fiber, the company's FMC service, has reached 24 provinces nationwide with approximately 231,000 subscribers by the end of 2023. Additionally, XL Axiata has reached an agreement with Link Net (First Media), involving the transfer of Link Net's fixed broadband (FBB) business, including 750,000 customers, to XL Axiata. The agreement also encompasses the construction of 2 million homepasses by Link Net, utilized by XL Axiata to offer FMC and FBB services.
