Stable Prices, Ample Food Supply Mark Ramadan–Eid Period: Trade Minister
Jakarta. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said food prices stayed under control and supplies remained sufficient during Ramadan and Eid 2026, crediting coordinated efforts across the supply chain.
Budi, popularly known as Busan, said the stability was the result of intensified field monitoring to ensure the public could observe Ramadan and celebrate Eid without disruption.
He added that the measures were a direct follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to prioritize food security and price stability during the holy month. The Trade Ministry deployed its Market Monitoring and Basic Needs System (SP2KP) team nationwide to closely track prices and supply conditions.
“My colleagues at the Trade Ministry and I, along with the entire SP2KP team, went directly to markets across Indonesia to monitor both prices and the supply of staple goods,” Busan said in a statement posted on his personal social media account on Monday.
Based on intensive monitoring across regions, Budi said there were no significant price spikes or supply shortages. Adequate availability of goods helped provide a sense of security for consumers amid seasonal demand increases.
He expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved, including regional governments, state-owned food enterprises, distributors and market traders, noting that the outcome reflected effective coordination across the supply chain.
Busan said he hopes this strong collaboration will extend beyond the Eid period and become a sustainable model for safeguarding national food resilience.
“Praise be to God, prices remained relatively under control and there were no supply shortages, allowing people to feel comfortable and at ease during Ramadan,” he said.
