Sariayu-Martha Tilaar Producer to Acquire Rudy Hadisuwarno Cosmetics
Jakarta. Martina Berto, a cosmetic and herbal medicine manufacturer known for its popular brand Sariayu-Martha Tilaar, is acquiring Rudy Hadisuwarno Cosmetics, a company that provides hair-care treatments and various cosmetic products, for Rp 58 billion ($4.35 million).
Martina Berto president director Bryan Tilaar said the acquisition of the company, which was founded by hairstylist Rudi Hadisuwarno, will take a year to be completed.
Bryan, the son of Martina Berto founder Martha Tilaar, said the company is also considering acquiring other cosmetics product lines to boost the company's bottom line.
This year, Martina Berto, which produces cosmetics for various market segments under brands such as Sariayu, Belia, PAC, Cempaka, and Dewi Sri Spa, aims for 15-percent growth in net income through increased sales and greater efficiency.
Martina Berto's sales in the January to September last year rose 10.27 percent to Rp 483.3 billion, with the biggest contribution from its line of cosmetics products, followed by herbal medicines.
Bryan had previously said the company would strengthen its business in beauty care and cosmetics, amid tougher competition by other brands. Martina Berto competes directly with Mustika Ratu, a prominent local producer of herbal cosmetics, and with L'Oréal, a foreign cosmetics manufacturer.
