Jakarta. Gold prices in Indonesia surged on Tuesday, with Antam bullion jumping Rp 34,000 to Rp 2,549,000 ($152.06) per gram, reflecting renewed global demand for safe-haven assets.

Data from Logam Mulia showed the state miner’s gold had already climbed Rp 27,000 on Monday to Rp 2,515,000 per gram. The all-time high for Antam gold remains Rp 2,605,000 per gram, recorded on Dec. 27, 2025.

Antam’s buyback price also rose sharply on Tuesday, gaining Rp 34,000 to Rp 2,405,000 per gram, signaling strong domestic demand amid heightened global uncertainty.

Globally, gold prices rose 1.4% to $4,386.30 per ounce, while silver surged 10.9%. The rebound followed Monday’s sharp sell-off after the Chicago Mercantile Exchange raised margin requirements for precious metals trading, prompting short-term liquidation.

Prices have since rebounded as geopolitical risks intensified, particularly after the United States launched a military operation in Venezuela, reinforcing gold’s appeal as a hedge against uncertainty. Gold has rallied strongly throughout 2025 amid economic concerns and persistent supply deficits.

Market participants are now turning their attention to US nonfarm payrolls data due on Friday, which could shape expectations for monetary policy. Investors are increasingly pricing in at least two interest-rate cuts by the Federal Reserve this year, a backdrop that typically favors non-yielding assets such as gold.
