Pizza Hut Indonesia Operator Acquires 52% of Hayo Frozen Yogurt
Jakarta. Sarimelati Kencana, the Indonesian operator of Pizza Hut restaurants, is acquiring a majority stake in the frozen yogurt brand Hayo as it pushes beyond its core pizza business following its return to profitability.
The company, which trades under the ticker PZZA, said it will invest up to Rp 10.4 billion ($580,000) to acquire 52% of Halal Artisan Yummies, the owner of Hayo Frozen Yoghurt, giving the restaurant operator a controlling stake in the business.
The transaction is intended to diversify revenue streams and reduce the company's reliance on pizza sales, Sarimelati said in a filing on Thursday.
"The transaction is expected to provide additional contributions to future revenue growth and strengthen PZZA's position in Indonesia's growing food and beverage industry," the company said.
The acquisition comes as it seeks new growth avenues following a difficult period marked by declining consumer spending, store rationalization, and losses. Sarimelati returned to profitability in 2025 after posting losses a year earlier.
The company reported first-quarter net income of Rp 5.9 billion, compared with Rp 418.6 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue rose 2.8% year-on-year to Rp 726.9 billion.
For the full year 2025, Sarimelati posted a net profit of Rp 24 billion, reversing a Rp 72.8 billion loss recorded in 2024.
Hayo Frozen Yoghurt represents Sarimelati's latest effort to broaden its presence in Indonesia's food and beverage market, particularly in halal products and emerging consumer segments.
The company said majority ownership would allow it to guide Hayo's business development and create operational synergies, including product diversification and culinary innovation.
Sarimelati also disclosed an affiliated relationship between the two companies. As of Dec. 31, 2025, Boy Ardhitya Lukito served as president director of Sarimelati and president commissioner of Halal Artisan Yummies.
The company said the acquisition is expected to support long-term growth through more focused business development and strengthen its competitive position in the food and beverage sector.
The investment also aligns with Sarimelati's broader expansion strategy beyond its traditional restaurant operations. The company recently established a new subsidiary, Tradisi Baru Bakeri, to pursue businesses including bakery retail, food services, accommodation and related consumer businesses.
