Jakarta. Indonesia’s state energy firm Pertamina is stepping up contingency measures to secure fuel supply as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East threaten global energy chains, betting on diversification to reduce exposure to any single region.

Pertamina said it has rolled out mitigation and operational scenarios to ensure the steady distribution of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), amid heightened global uncertainty affecting energy logistics.

“As the national energy company, Pertamina has implemented mitigation plans and contingency measures to ensure energy supply continues to run smoothly,” said Vice President Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron in a statement on Wednesday.

The company has diversified its energy sourcing strategy to avoid reliance on specific countries or regions, aiming to cushion potential disruptions in distribution routes or geopolitical shocks.

Pertamina added that it is strengthening coordination with the government to optimize domestic energy supply and support strategic policies in the sector. It is also working with law enforcement authorities and regional administrations to tighten oversight of fuel and LPG distribution on the ground.

Baron said the current global dynamics represent external pressures that require a coordinated response from the government, businesses, and the public.

“In line with the President’s call, Pertamina invites the public to use energy wisely as part of efforts to safeguard national energy resilience,” he said.

The company urged consumers to use fuel and LPG efficiently to help maintain national energy security as uncertainties persist.
