Pertamina Raises Pertamax Price by 32% as Global Oil Costs Climb
Jakarta. State-owned energy company Pertamina has increased the price of its flagship Pertamax gasoline by 32.1%, from Rp 12,300 to Rp 16,250 ($0.68 - $0.90) per liter, effective Wednesday.
The company also raised the price of Pertamax Green 95 by 31.78%, from Rp 12,900 to Rp 17,000 per liter.
Prices of other fuel products remained unchanged.
Roberth Dumatubun, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, said the adjustment followed a regular pricing review that takes into account global oil prices and prevailing market conditions. The policy was coordinated with the government in its role as regulator, he added.
“The adjustment to Pertamax and Pertamax Green prices was made following an evaluation based on the pricing formula established by the government. This step is also part of efforts to ensure the sustainability of energy supply and the optimal distribution of high-quality fuels,” Roberth said in a statement on Tuesday.
The increase comes as Indonesia faces rising energy-import costs amid elevated global crude oil prices and a weaker rupiah, which has recently traded above Rp 18,000 per US dollar.
In contrast, subsidized fuels were left unchanged.
Pertalite, Indonesia’s most widely used gasoline grade, remains priced at Rp 10,000 per liter, while subsidized Biosolar diesel continues to sell at Rp 6,800 per liter.
