Jakarta Composite Index Climbs 1.02 Pct as Trading Frequency and Volume Surge
Jakarta. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose by 26 points (1.02 percent) this week, reaching 7,327 from last week’s close at 7,253, for the period of July 8-12.
“In line with this, the market capitalization of the exchange increased by Rp 47 trillion (0.37 percent) to Rp 12,478 trillion from Rp 12,431 trillion last week,” according to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data.
Trading frequency also surged by 15.29 percent this week, reaching 1.09 million transactions compared to 947,000 transactions last week.
The daily trading volume over the week rose by 11.97 percent to 17.41 billion shares from 15.55 billion shares last week.
Meanwhile, the daily transaction value decreased by 1.78 percent to IDR 10.46 trillion from IDR 10.65 trillion at the close of last week.
Foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp 1.24 trillion on Friday, while for the year 2024, foreign investors have recorded a net sell of Rp 3.53 trillion.
Meanwhile, US stocks rose Friday after some mixed signals on big banks’ profits and inflation did little to dent Wall Street’s belief that easier interest rates are on the way.
The S&P 500 climbed 0.6 percent to close its fifth winning week in the last six. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 247 points, or 0.6 percent, and Nasdaq composite added 0.6 percent. All three indexes had been on track to set all-time highs in afternoon trading but finished shy of them.
