Jakarta. Indonesia’s toy exports soared to $351.8 million in the first half of 2026, the government announced on Monday, with the US being a top buyer.

This marked an increase compared to the $297.7 million export seen in the same six-month period last year. Reni Yanita, a senior official at the Industry Ministry, named the US and the UK as the top export destinations.

“The same goes for China, Australia, and the Czech Republic. This achievement leaves ample space for Indonesia to increase its contribution to the global market,” Reni was quoted as saying by the state news agency Antara.

Indonesia’s toy industry recorded a net export surplus in the last five years. In 2025, export value grew 8.2% year-on-year to $664.6 million.

“But the biggest challenge for national industry today is not just production capacity, but how to make sure that the domestic [toys] are absorbed and can take advantage of opportunities in the global supply chain,” Reni said.

Indonesia is home to 256 toymaking units that hire a total of 15,663 workers. The small and medium-sized enterprises are spread across Central Java, East Java, and West Java.
