Jakarta. Indonesian taxpayers are being urged to promptly activate their Coretax Administration System accounts, the government’s newly introduced platform for tax reporting and payments.

As of this week, around 11.3 million taxpayers have activated their Coretax accounts, including 10.5 million individual taxpayers, according to data from the Directorate General of Taxes.

However, the surge in activations has also exposed challenges, as many taxpayers struggle with the process or fail to receive verification codes sent to their registered contact details, said Rosmauli, spokesperson for the Directorate General of Taxes.

“The main obstacles faced by taxpayers in using Coretax relate to changes and the validity of contact data, particularly email addresses and mobile phone numbers,” Rosmauli said.

She explained that verification codes sent via email and mobile phone can only be received if the registered contact information is valid and active. If the data have not been updated, the account activation process may take longer because the system is unable to complete security authentication.

“This information is critical for verification and data security,” Rosmauli said. “However, many taxpayers have yet to provide or update valid contact details, which delays the account activation process.”

To cope with the spike in demand, the tax authority has expanded service capacity across all operational units, including at regional offices, and deployed volunteers to assist the public with guidance and technical support.

Rosmauli added that the Coretax platform has undergone system stability testing involving more than 36,000 simultaneous users, in preparation for peak traffic ahead of annual tax filing deadlines of March 31 for individual taxpayers and April 30 for corporate taxpayers.

“We encourage taxpayers who have completed the required documentation to proceed with filing their tax returns through Coretax,” she said.
