Indonesia Extends Corporate Tax Filing Deadline to May 31
Jakarta. The Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for corporate annual tax filings by one month to May 31, following requests from business groups and corporations, as authorities seek to ease compliance pressures without undermining revenue targets.
The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) announced an extension of the annual corporate income tax return filing deadline, which is typically due by April 30 each year.
Tax chief Bimo Wijayanto said the decision was made after consultations with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
“Following our consultation this morning, the minister decided to grant relaxation,” Bimo said at the Central Jakarta Medium Tax Office on Thursday.
The extension applies only to the filing of tax returns, while a decision on extending the payment deadline is still under review. Authorities are assessing the potential impact on state revenue collection before making a final call.
He added that the policy directive came directly from the finance minister, with the DJP currently preparing the legal basis for the extension, which will be formally issued soon.
As of Thursday afternoon, total annual tax return submissions, covering both individual and corporate taxpayers, had reached about 12.6 million, or roughly 84% of the 15 million target.
Bimo confirmed that the deadline for individual taxpayers remains unchanged at April 30, after previously being extended from the original March 31 cutoff.
