Jakarta. Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) reaffirmed Monday its commitment to back the country’s dream of achieving a golden era by 2045. To this end, the group will push for what it calls the “Indonesia Incorporated”, an approach that sees the government and private sector joining hands towards one goal. 

Apindo is currently hosting a three-day meeting between its members at the eL Hotel in Bandung. The association’s chairwoman, Shinta W Kamdan,i said Apindo intended to consolidate all elements of its organization. A number of ministers are set to join the meeting, thus giving a chance for business to give their inputs regarding the golden era. The government’s policies are centered at achieving the “Golden Indonesia 2045”. The year marks Indonesia’s centennial since declaring independence in 2045. 

“This is a chance for us [Apindo] to evaluate the performance over the past year, but also prepare the programs for the next year. We do need to keep an eye on the global and domestic economic situation. This is certainly not easy for businesspeople,” Shinta said.

“That’s why we are embracing this ‘Indonesia Incorporated’ spirit on how we can turn Indonesia into an advanced economy. Whatever the challenges may come, the answer is Indonesia Incorporated,” Shinta said. 

Ning Wahyu Astutik, who chairs Apindo’s West Javan chamber, also acknowledged the importance of the “Indonesia Incorporated” approach.

“We should not just wait around for the golden era, but we have to chase it. We cannot do it alone. Everyone, including the government, businesspeople, community, and the press, all have to work together,” Ning said. 

The event also includes an exhibition for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). As many as 34 booths are selling various goods, including batik and handicrafts.
