Jakarta. Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF), a state infrastructure financing firm, wants to double its financing commitment to Rp 10 trillion ($710 million) next year in line with the government push to build up the country's infrastructure.

IIF already agreed to a financing commitment of Rp 5 trillion in late November, Sukatmo Padmosukarso, IIF president director, said in a statement on Friday.

"IIF will continue providing long-term financing to infrastructure projects in Indonesia in the form of loans or equity-- tailored to the projects' needs and characteristics, both in rupiah and US dollar," Sukatmo said.

"We hope project owners and developers are helped by the flexibility of financing that we offer. We target the commitments to grow to Rp 10 trillion next year," he said.

IIF was established in 2010 as a catalyst to boost infrastructure development in Indonesia. IIF also cooperates with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Any private infrastructure firm that secures IIF financing generally also gets easier access to global funds.

"Our existence in infrastructure financing is not meant to replace the existing sources of financing, but rather to create synergy with others ... We're developing a function as a catalyst in infrastructure development," Sukatmo explained.

IIF so far has financed toll road projects, airports, ports, electricity, telecommunication, oil and gas projects.

Among other projects, IIF provided Rp 400 billion in loans to state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II to expand Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in July this year.
