On the global market, gold prices continued to strengthen. As of Dec. 26 at 12:57 a.m. New York time, spot gold stood at $4,511.34 per troy ounce, up 32.14 points or 0.72%, according to goldprice.org. Prices previously touched an all-time high of $4,525 per ounce, before easing 0.19% to $4,479 on Wednesday.

Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas said gold remains in a “super bullish” phase through 2026, projecting prices could reach $5,050 per troy ounce in the second half of next year.

The brokerage expects gold to benefit from persistent global uncertainty and a shift toward looser monetary policy, with the US Federal Reserve seen cutting rates one to two more times next year. Lower interest rates reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets such as gold, boosting its appeal as a hedge and portfolio diversifier.

Pilarmas also forecasts continued strong gold purchases by central banks in 2026, driven by reserve diversification and efforts to reduce reliance on the US dollar, particularly among emerging economies facing geopolitical risks.

Still, the brokerage cautioned that short-term corrections remain possible due to profit-taking and shifts in market sentiment, even as gold’s role as a safe haven and inflation hedge is expected to grow more relevant next year.
