Futura Energi Secures Chinese Investment for 130-Megawatt Solar Project in Bali
Jakarta. Renewable energy developer Futura Energi Global (FUTR) has signed a partnership with two Chinese firms, Zhejiang Energy PV-Tech Co. and Hypec International, to develop a 130-megawatt solar power plant (PLTS) in Bali.
FUTR President Director Tonny Agus Mulyanto said the collaboration represents a key milestone in the company’s transition toward sustainable energy while supporting the government’s Net Zero Emission 2060 goal.
“Zhejiang will provide financial backing, while Hypec will serve as the EPC contractor. Both companies have strong track records in solar projects, including in Indonesia,” Tonny said in a written statement on Wednesday.
The Bali solar project will be developed in stages, with FUTR currently coordinating with the Bali regional government to identify potential locations based on spatial planning and solar potential.
The company plans to establish a special-purpose subsidiary to oversee the operation and maintenance of the plant. Documentation, feasibility studies, and licensing are expected to be completed by the first half of 2026, paving the way for construction and groundbreaking.
Tonny said the project’s investment scheme will align with the tariff structure outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 112/2022 on renewable energy pricing.
“Solar power is proven to be workable and manageable, as seen in Cirata, West Java. We’re confident this project will follow suit,” he added.
The Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant is the largest floating solar facility in Southeast Asia and the third largest in the world.
Futura Energi expects the Bali solar plant to serve as a benchmark for modern and efficient solar development in eastern Indonesia, while strengthening Indonesia–China cooperation in clean energy.
The signing ceremony at Hotel Ayana Jakarta was attended by Zhejiang Energy PV-Tech President Director Zhang Lianghua, Hypec International President Director Mr. Yan, and FUTR’s management, including Commissioner Ardhantara Angga. The event was also witnessed by PLN President Commissioner Burhanuddin Abdullah.
