Jakarta. More than a year since the first confirmed cases of coronavirus were announced by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on March 2, 2020, many Indonesian hospitals have upgraded their emergency response capabilities.

A municipally-owned general hospital in Bogor, West Java, has been fully converted into a Covid-19 hospital to cope with the ongoing surge in newly cases. The city has been included into the red zone list, meaning that it has among the fastest growth of new infections.

The hospital’s intensive care unit is busy treating new patients every day, some of them are put on ventilators.

The ICU is also tailored to the needs of the patient. For example, the hospital provides a bed that is specially designed for toddlers so they will feel comfortable during the treatment. The enthusiasm and high work ethic shown by health workers can bring a good impact on the patient's recovery rate. Evidently, most of Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
