Taipei. Nvidia on Monday unveiled a new generation of powerful chips designed to bring advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to laptops and desktop computers, with new PC models from companies including Microsoft and Dell expected to launch later this year.

The Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker, which has dominated the market for high-end AI chips used in data centers, is now seeking to expand its reach into consumer AI systems and devices.

Nvidia founder and Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang announced the new products in Taipei during the company’s annual GTC conference. In his keynote address, Huang said Microsoft and Nvidia are poised to “reinvent the PC.”

“This is going to be the new PC,” Huang said as he introduced Nvidia’s RTX Spark superchip, which combines central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) functions into a single platform. The chip will power a new category of Windows laptops and desktops that Nvidia describes as “AI personal computers,” with commercial availability expected this fall.

Nvidia, already the world’s most valuable company ahead of Apple, Microsoft, and Google parent Alphabet, is entering a market long dominated by rivals Intel and AMD. Following the announcement, Nvidia shares rose nearly 4%in early US trading, while Intel and AMD each fell more than 3%

The company said the new PCs are designed to transform content creation and gaming by enabling users to interact directly with AI-powered assistants.

“When it has an autonomous AI agent — one that understands you and helps you — you can talk to it, it can see you, read files, conduct research, and assist with a wide range of tasks,” Huang said.

In a separate statement, Microsoft said PCs powered by RTX Spark chips will support highly capable AI models and demanding workloads. Nvidia added that the systems will be able to run AI agents locally, reducing reliance on cloud computing.

“This is the first major reinvention of the PC in 40 years,” Huang said.

Industry analysts said the move reflects growing demand for personal AI assistants.

“For consumers, it means more choice, which is always a good thing,” said Lian Jye Su, chief analyst at technology research and advisory firm Omdia.

Neil Shah, co-founder and analyst at Counterpoint Research, described the announcement as a step toward reshaping personal computing over the next decade.

“These devices will drive agentic AI applications in every home,” Shah said, adding that Nvidia’s long-term vision is to bring an “AI supercomputer” into every household.

Huang also announced that Nvidia’s new Vera CPUs for data centers have entered full production and are expected to become a major growth driver as demand for AI agents accelerates. Early customers include Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI.

In addition, Nvidia unveiled a humanoid robot reference design intended to serve as a blueprint for future research, particularly in higher education. The robot, called Isaac GR00T, stands nearly six feet tall and uses the H2 humanoid chassis developed by Chinese robotics company Unitree. It is equipped with five-fingered dexterous hands developed by Singapore-based robotics startup Sharpa, enabling highly precise movements.
