Honda Debuts e:N1 Electric Car in Indonesia, Set for 2025 Launch
Jakarta. Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has introduced its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Honda e:N1, at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024. This launch marks Honda's entry into the Indonesian electric vehicle market, with plans to release the vehicle in 2025.
The Japanese automaker emphasized that the arrival of the Honda e:N1 in Indonesia is a crucial step in its electrification roadmap for the country.
“This is Honda's first battery electric vehicle in Indonesia. Therefore, there is a lot of education that we need to provide to prospective customers,” said Yusak Billy, Director of Sales, Marketing, and After Sales at Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), on Friday.
Billy said that there are still several factors to consider before the widespread release of this electric vehicle. Previously, Honda had introduced hybrid electric vehicle models, which were considered more suitable for the Indonesian market.
“At present, we are still focusing on the development of hybrid technology to educate consumers on how electrification can be utilized in Indonesia,” Billy said.
The Honda e:N1 is equipped with a 68.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, capable of covering a maximum distance of 500 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, the car features fast-charging technology, allowing the battery to reach 80 percent capacity in just 50 minutes.
