Jakarta. Russia’s state Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom participated in Southeast Asia’s largest energy exhibition, Electricity Connect 2025, which took place in Jakarta from 19 to 21 November 2025.

The event, organized by the Indonesian Electrical Power Society with the support of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Indonesian state utility company PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara), brought together industry leaders to discuss large-scale prospects for the development of the country’s energy sector.

Rosatom’s booth, which showcased cutting-edge nuclear solutions for the Southeast Asian region, was visited by leading representatives of Indonesia’s business community and government, including PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo, along with other distinguished guests.

Speaking at the plenary session dedicated to technology, Rosatom representative Alexander Tsybulya told the audience about the corporation’s advanced energy solutions that can make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s energy transition and ensure its sustainable development in the future.

In addition, the head of Rosatom’s country office, Anna Belokoneva, moderated a panel session on nuclear energy featuring key stakeholders in Indonesia’s emerging nuclear sector, as well as Deputy Head of Rosatom’s Mechanical Engineering Division, Vladimir Aptekarev. He presented Rosatom’s solutions with a special focus on floating power units.

“Indonesia is demonstrating rapid economic growth while also planning to reach carbon neutrality by 2060. The growing electricity demand across different regions of the country can be effectively met by large and small nuclear power plants, including floating power units,” Vladimir Aptekarev said in a press statement.

“Nuclear energy is a reliable and low-carbon source of electricity that can significantly strengthen the country’s energy system and national energy security. Rosatom has unique experience and the necessary reference technologies to offer Indonesia a comprehensive solution tailored to the needs of its growing economy,” he added.

As part of the forum, Rosatom received the award for Best Nuclear Technology Developer from the organizers.

Rosatom operates a floating nuclear cogeneration plant (FNPP) -- the world’s only operating floating nuclear plant and the northernmost nuclear power facility -- located in Pevek, Chukotka Autonomous Area. Its launch in May 2020 marked a true breakthrough in providing sustainable development for remote regions of Russia.

The FNPP consists of the floating power unit “Akademik Lomonosov,” equipped with two KLT-40S reactor units and generating 70 MW of electricity and 50 Gcal/h of heat, as well as a shore-based infrastructure complex used to deliver electricity and heat from the FPU to consumers. In addition to electricity production, the FNPP supplies heat to the town of Pevek. Floating power units are an effective new solution for powering remote territories, large mining projects, and energy-intensive industrial facilities, the corporation said.
